France Steel helmet (˜1960)
In this collection since: 23.06.2011
0385 Fire Helmet from Paris, France. The shape corresponds to the former military helmet type Adrian. The helmet is made of chrome-plated aluminum. The fittings are brass, and also the circumferential edge is made of brass. Later this was also chromed. Operating time around 1950 – 1970. Opposite to helmet number 38, the helmet is higher and not so wide. The coat of arms bears instead of the usual words "Sapeurs Pompiers" and the name of the town the words "Fluctuat nec mergitur". The motto of the city of Paris which was originally on an island in the Seine, is translated as: "She swims, but is not going down" Today, this helmet is worn only for parades or ceremonies. The fire department of Paris (Brigade de Sapeurs-Pompiers de Paris - BSPP) has its own motto: Courage et dévouement - courage and commitment. In 2011, the BSPP is 200 years (1811 - 2011).
