Third Reich until 1945 Steel helmet (˜1934)
In this collection since: 14.06.2011
0383 German fire helmet. The helmet is a true witness. It was produced in 1934. This shows the stamp rear inside: "Act according to regulations 3.5.34" Over this, a sign is engraved: "B BXF". Probably fireman Winkler (signature at interior leather helmet) was its former owner. The emblem on the helmet after settlement of 28.07.1934 shows originally at the left side the police eagle of the fire police organisation (Feuerlöschpolizei), right, the the coat of arms of the German Empire (black swastika in a round, white box on a red shield).
On the helmet has been the brick breaker wich was prescribed. The marks along the unsealed mounting holes are clearly visible. The Snap-on Cockscomb was taken off on the arrangement order of the Chief of Police (12/27/1939). However, the remaining slots have not been closed with blind rivets. After the end of the second world war the fire brigades were reorganized by the Allied occupation forces. The units of the former fire police, in the big cities becomes professional fire services again. The existing side badges were smeared with black paint, but they are still visible. At the front was the white lettering "FIREDEPT" painted with a stencil. In the American occupation zone the helmets where white painted. It seems possible that the helmet is from the English occupation zone.
