France Synthetic helmet (˜1983)
In this collection since: 14.01.2011
0369 Fire helmet from France. The manufacturing of the helmet was ordered by the Fire Brigade from the city of Toulon in southern France. The helmet was developed in cooperation with the fire department of Toulon. In the years 1983-1985, this helmet was then built by the company Gueneau Toulon. The type of helmet was called JB II, the helmet itself is made of a Composite mixture. This helmet replaced then, in the fire department of Toulon, the in France commonly used plastic helmet (No. 39), which was built by Petit Collin in Paris. With the introduction of full-face helmets CGF Gallet in 1985, the JB II helmets have been replaced. Overall, for the fire brigade of Toulon only 180 of these helmets were built.
On the front is the badge of fire brigade from Toulon (SDIS - Service Departemental d'Incendie et de Secours), with the coat of arms of the city
The saying, located on the badge "Ignem Strictendo"means: "suffocate the fire".
The white plastic helmet with its surrounding, red reflective strips and the black edge protection is not oriented to the former French helmets. The form, without the peripheral, classic brim is higher, the sides fall off relatively steeply. The inner helmet is made of leather and nylon straps, and for the distance to the helmet bell, PU foam pieces are inserted. The setting of the head size is made by a Velcro closure on the headband. The top baffle plate is relatively large, covered also with leather and attached with nylon strips to the headband.
The chin strap, also from nylon is fixed at three points on the helmet bell. To fasten a neck guard behind, two Velcro strips are glued on.
