0355 German fire helmet after the steel helmet M34 with sharp-edged approach of the neck protection, similar to the helmets No. 48 and 49 Due to the square neck protection approach, the helmet is probably older than in 1945.
Fire Helmets in Bavaria, after the war, had to be painted red on the orders of the American occupation force. The firefighters wore the red helmets and also the badges wich was only used in the Bavarian area between 1945-1964. From 1964, for all of Germany, the new standard DIN14940 was law. From 1964 in Germany, new helmets was bought in according to the new law but the old helmets could still be further used.
The insignia of the Bavarian fire departments since 1946 can be found today in various insignia of the Bavarian fire departments until today. It is found as a metal plate on the collar patches of uniforms and on their caps. In Old Silver (matt) for fire-fighting trainees until Hauptlöschmeister, in silver at commander, fire chief, main fire chief, commander, county and city fire chief and in gold at county and city fire inspector.
