United States Synthetic helmet (˜2007)
In this collection since: 01.07.2009
0333 Firefighter helmet from the United States. The black fiberglass helmet was worn at the Fire Department City of New York (FDNY). The helmet was made on 09.04.2007 after NFPA1971 updated in 2007. Manufacturer of the helmet is the company Morning Pride Manufacturing LLC in Dayton, Ohio, the type is called Ben Franklin II, the model is: HDOBF00 HB. The rather heavy helmet fits optically to the predecessors of the FDNY helmets. The Fire Department of New York was before wearing the helmet No: 331 out of leather. When the switch was made on to the new helmet generation is not known to me.
The helmet has a head size adjustment, the adjustment of the sizes between 6 to 9.5 can be made by a scroll wheel on the back of the head band. The helmet has a neck and a leather chin strap made of Nomex. The chin strap can be opened via a quick release, the length adjustment via a metal clamp. At the front, the Bourke Eyes, the traditional protection of the FDNY are fixed. On the back of the helmet is fastened the glasses that can be tightened if necessary.
The banding of the glasses is already attached to the side. At the front is the front piece, the badge of the FDNY. The New York Fire Department has a unified front piece for all areas and fire trucks.
The leather shield, mounted on top by a metal eagle's head, indicates whether the firefighter of a firestation or a truck. In this case, the firefighter is a member of the firestation 21 (FDNY Engine 21's, 238 E 40th St, New York, NY 10016), the black background color of the stationnumber indicates the membership in a fire engine. Crews from turntable ladders have a red background with white numbers, emergency (rescue / technical assistance) blue, squat yellow and the members of the fire ships have green.
The helmet is black for firefighters, red for higher firefighters (Officer like the chief of a car) and withe for Officers (Chief) as Battalion Chief or Divisional Chief.
In the firestation, directly located at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York on the East River, stands next to the Engine 21 the Ladder 6.
Under the number of the firestation, is the personnel number of the firefighter. Up on the front piece, there is the number 343. A reference to the FDNY comrades, killed on 11 September 2001 at the World Trade Center, including Captain William Burke Jr. of Engine 21.
Circumferentially around the helmet are yellow and silver reflective stickers affixed. Helmet Lamp from Madison CT Garrity, a trademark of Duracell is held by a simple strip of rubber. On the opposite side here lies a wooden wedge.
