Mongolia Metal helmet (˜1991)

0321 Firefighters helmet from Mongolia. The heavy, olive green steel helmet was originally a steel army helmet from Russia. Mongolia, between Russia and the PRC located, said in 1911 with Russian help, regardless of China. 1924, the Mongolian People's Republic was built.She was not recognized until 1946 by China. So Mongolia becomed a satellite state of Russia. The fire brigade in Mongolia is part of the army. May bee that, to identify the civil unity in the army, the helmet was signed withe a horizontal and vertical white line. The approximately 50mm wide strips make the helmet even more and better visible. The helmet has no face shield and no neck protection. Some Officers wear the helmet in white. The big brass insignia shows two crossed axes. Then there is a red star with hammer and sickle symbol. This star was worn until the end of 1991 (the repeal of the USSR). Since the reconciliation of Mongolia with China, 1994, is the red star in a simple way. The helmet therefore, may be dated before 1991. The manufacturer of the helmet is not known.
