Italy Synthetic helmet (˜2004)
In this collection since: 29.08.2007
0302 Fire helmet from Italy. The black helmet made from synthetic material, was produced by the Italian company Sicor S.p.A. (arose 1991 from the fusion of La Lombarda Antinfortunistica and Sureco).
The type is called "Amber VF1" and is predecessor to the helmet type "VFR 2000".
The already last helmet generation in the old style (see helmet no.286) also were called type "VF1".
The helmet, produced in according to EN443 was produced as a test helmet and at some fire departments (so the fire department Bozen/Bolzano) tested since summer 2004.
Due to various deficits (e.g. the transparent visor) the helmet never came to the maturity for series production. The helmet "VFR2000" arisen from the knowledge is worn in Italy since the end of 2004 at all professional fire departments. The helmet form corresponds to the common current helmet types in Europe.
Unfortunately, no information has to be got over this helmet, and references to type, manufacturers etc. still can be found in or at the helmet.
The helmet bowl itself consists of synthetic material, the eye shield is added separately to the helmet bell, as well the short neck protection, this one is produced of a thick rubber. The attachment of a neck protection cloth isn't scheduled. The visor from a approx. 1 mm thick, clear synthetic material is adapted to the face. As in the case of the Dräger helmet (see helmet no. 34/183), the area of the nose is issued. The visor at the side doesn't attach to the helmet bell, but much, however, doesn't leave open. When the visor is slid in, the undermost part of the visor prolongs to the eye shield.
The helmet is provided with a blow absorption cushion inside. The inside helmet is attached thick at this cushion, adapting the head tape to the head size by a velcro behind. A protection cushion which is solid and packed into leather protects the back area at the neck. The chinstrap from nylon tape is attached tightly on both sides at the helmet, the altering possibility by a Metal ring given. A seal isn't appropriate. Fastening points lying on the outside on bothe sides, ensure the assembly of a fitting breath protective mask. Four yellow, easily reflective adhesive tapes are stuck on to the helmet bell. The approx. 50 mm high, new fire department emblem of the Italian fire departments is at the front. The badge is made of metal.
