0281 Fire helmet of the professional fire department Cape Town, South Africa.
The white synthetic helmet from Thermoplast is from the manufacturer Bullard. The type: Model LT. The helmet in the classic form of the American fire helmets, is comparable with the models FXE (see helmet no.: 226) and model PX (helmet no.: 242). The helmet is, however, considerably shorter and in the neck area behind hardly enlarged. He is generally almost as compact as the helmets 278 and 280. The helmet is produced to NFPA1971 in the version of the year 2000. Date of the production is October 2004. The helmet is adjustable in the head size between 61/2 -- 8 by the classic trick seal. The neck protection from Aramid is long and tight-fitting, the model is called R721.In the innside of the helmet, there ist a absorbing inside bowl installed, made from urethane foam, coated with synthetic material. The visor, to be fastened at the side, also is allowed to NFPA.
After the identification at the helmet the original owner has been a Station Officer.
The staggering of the officers in particular:
Yellow helmet / one stripe black = Senior Firefighter
Yellow helmet / two stripes black = Leading Firefighter
White helmet / three stripes red = Station Officer
White helmet / four stripees red = Assistand Division Officer
The CTFR (Cape Town Fire & Rescue) has 28 fire stations. They protectan area of 4419 km² and a population of 3.1 million people. The fire station in the Roeland Street has a small but very beautiful fire museum. The motto of the unity is called: "Semper Paratus" (always prepared)
