German leather helmet around 1890, Prussian form with cockscomb made of bright brass and lateral cockade. The signpost edging also is made of brass. A chinstrap is appropriate at the lateral rosettes. The badge of the city of Ottweiler/Saarland is at the front. The brass badge was borne so only in Ottweiler. The helmet still was worn in the time of the Saarabstimmung 1935 ( Coordination of the population on the affiliation to Germany or France) while other fire departments were wearing the uniform and helmets of the Rheinprovinzen in the Saarland. Helmets of the Rheinprovinz also were according to the Prussian form, however, had a coat of arms at the front. See helmet no.: 294. As of 1935 the helmets were then replaced by the helmets of the Feuerlöschpolizei (fire police). (See helmet no.: 111/189). The inside helmet is in an excellent state. |
