Synthetic helmet (˜1970)

Fire helmet of the Intercourse Firedepartement in the Lancaster County in the U.S. federal state Pennsylvania. The black helmet made of glass fiber reinforced synthetic material is from the American company MSA (Mine Safety Appliances Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA). The helmet is called "Skullgard". The helmet resembles to the helmets from the "Safety Supply company" in his form (see helmets no.: 132 and 163). At the helmet is clear to recognize the structure of the glass fiber material, the inside helmet is connected to the helmet bowl by a cord, to this the cord goes all 6cm through the helmet bowl. The cord is covered with an elastic on the outside. A visor of the company Plectron is attached tightly at the helmet. The chinstrap is made from leather, the inside helmet also. Small cushion deposits provide a little upholstery on the edge between the headband and the helmet bowl. A neck guard could circulatingly be attached by a zipper. At the front the frontpiece of the Intercourse Firedepartement is appropriate, it is further to see the number 1. When the helmet was carried isn't known. |
