Third Reich until 1945 Metal helmet (˜1939)
In this collection since: 27.04.2004
0189 Air safety helmet M35, how he was used at the fire police and the empire air-raid precautions federation (RLB). The helmet seems bipartite by the edge board. The helmet is signed by this edge board as a helmet with lower strength and so not front fit for the armed forces. These helmets were continued to use in the air-raid precautions or at the fire police. The air safety helmet had generally, like the armed forces helmets, no neck leather, why this helmet also has no possibility for the attachment of a neck leather. The corresponding emblems being missing on the side or in front, for this two perforations are at the front availably for a sign. Presumable had been the helmet in the air-raid precautions of a company in use. The helmet seems to be blue-grey before he was black painted. Originally the helmet had any cockscomb what does suggest that the helmet was modified, new painted and further used at a fire department after end of the war. Two stamps are in the helmet: "20377" behind and on the left "Q64". On the comb is the stamp "DRGM" to see. The stamps have the following meaning in particular: 20377 is simply the production number of the helmet, Q64 indicates the manufacturer of the bell, here Quist (Q) from Esslingen. The 64 stands for the bell size, 64 cm in this case (Inside size in the bell) corresponds to a head size of 57-58 cm with a built-in inside helmet. DRGM stands for "German empire use sample", the predecessor of the DIN.
