Federal Republic of Germany since 1949 Synthetic helmet (˜1975)
In this collection since: 20.02.2003
0155 Test helmet of the company Dräger, Lübeck, from the IV quarter 1979. Already 1975 Dräger started this series of experiments with the professional fire department Den Haag. The white helmet (the fire department helmets are white in Holland) made of the material "Lexan" (Polycarbonat) stood out from the previous helmets considerably. Only still the indicated comb pointed to a fire department helmet. The new unusual feature of this helmet is the excenter fastening of the breath protective mask, which one was put in at the side and fastened by turn to two cones. The inside helmet and the neck leather almost were fitted on the DIN 4840 (work safety helmets) and DIN 14940 (fire department helmets). The neck leather is, however, considerably longer and is fastenes by 5 pushbuttons directly at the long helmet bell. The eye protection visor resembles today's visors, it, however, cannot be fixed in the closed position, above by click in in the indicated comb. The visor can be removed completely in a few seconds. To this on the left and on the right two small aluminum nuts are drawn. Only two little pins are left. Because the Dutch demand for high temperature resistance and a using luxury wasn't fulfilled and in Germany among the professional fire departments no identical opinion was formed (there still were problems with the new mask fastening, one moreover didn't agree whether the two point fastening ensured a just as safe seat as the 5 point fastening of conventional masks ) wasn't the development continued. Only new and better synthetic materials, permitted the continuation of the development and ended in the helmets Supra and Supra S. (see helmet no.: 34)
Thanks for helping to the company Dräger!
