Netherlands Synthetic helmet (˜1972)
In this collection since: 24.03.2002
0102 Fire helmet from the professional fire department Amsterdam. The black Polycarbonathelm made by the German manufacturer Römer, is sold by the company Kraayer in Holland. The helmet type is called Holland and was sold as Innova 2000 by Kraayer. The helmet attaches himself to the form of the old Dutch leather helmet. This one also was produced to 1945 in Germany. A team rank indicates the black color. The helmet has a broad, high, very square copper comb which one goes down to the neck guard behind. The circulating edge edging also is made of copper. The broad chinstrap is held with stellate rosettes made of brass at the side. The old Dutch firemanshelmet is shown on the rosettes. The helmet bears the copper badge of the city of Amsterdam on the front. There is a crown over the coat of arms, the following stands under this on a ribbon: Heldhaftig-Vastberaden-Barmhartig, this means: Heroic- Absolutely determined- Merciful. These three words have been added to the municipal coat of arms by Amsterdam after the 2nd World War. The coat of arms is made of full metal. According to the insidehelmet, the production year is 1972. The text on the sticker inside the helmet is as follows: Veiligheidshelm - Bol + Binnenwerk - Goedgekeurd - A.I. 1793 - KraaiJer N.V. – Wormerveer.
The helmet was no longer authorized because of the electrically leading metal parts since 1986.
Every fireman to fire chiefs traditionally wore a black helmet. The higher officers a white one. White helmets, however, are visible better, almost all helmets are white in Holland in the meantime there. Some fire departments have kept the color system, however. 2005 the rearrangement to persistent helmet colors starts at the moment.
The follow-up helmet of this helmet is the number 90.
