German Democratic Republic since 1949 until 1990 Synthetic helmet (˜1980)
In this collection since: 12.08.2000
0037 Fire helmet from the DDR, East Berlin. More unused, at the time of the re-union of Germany current chromium plated fire helmet with visor. The VEB Plastverarbeitung developed the bell in Staaken for a new fire helmet from Plast at the end of the seventies this one then was put together by the VEB perfect (early company Lubstein) to the fire department safety helmet.
This helmet got in addition a vaporized chrome layer, which should reflect about 90% of the appearing heat.
At first the helmet was in the test at some professional fire departments at the beginning of the eighties and the professional fire departments were then using them.
There were differently long neck leathers, short for engineers, great for firemen. In the context of the further development the helmet should be distributed also to the voluntary firefighters.
The inside helmet carries the imprint "NVA." ( National people army, the name of the army of the German Demokratic Republik ) He is taken by the NVA steel helmet M56. The dependence of the form on the Russian fire department helmets with ball visor is unmistakable. (see also helmet no.: 32)
