A short summary of the DIN14940 (German Industry Norm):
The DIN 14940 is arisen after the 2. World War. At first there was a preliminary standard for the helmets in February 1956. There then was the 1st norm for the fire safety helmet in January 1962. In the meeting of the norm committee AA1 in May 1964 the standard sheet 14940 was adopted. The color was defined exactly only here. Although the color was already allowed in the first preliminary standard in yellowish-green, black helmets (in Bavaria red helmets) further could be worn. Chairman of the norm committee was Engineer Seegerer.
